| In 1975 the original members of The Animals (Burdon, Price, Valentine, Chandler and Steel) gathered at Chas Chandler's house in Surrey (east of London) to record the tracks that appear on this album ... their first new music together for more than a decade. The album wasn't released until two years later on Chandler's Barn label in 1977 (due to ongoing legal complications between Burdon and Gold/Goldstien). Despite good reviews where some critics referred to the tracks as their best music ever, record sales of the album were poor. Burdon comments in his 2001 book "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" that a release from a reunited 60's band in 1975 was highly anticipated, however it's eventual release in 1977 in the thick of the punk revolution was laughable. Kojak recommends the album to any Burdon/Animals fan as an interesting and enjoyable collection of tracks from an obviously talented group of singers/musicians .... in particular their version of Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now Baby Blue"; a great opening track in "Brother Bill"; a blues gem in the Burdon/Price/Valentine/Chandler/Steel original "Riverside County", and a must-listen-to-again track in "Lonely Avenue". | ||
