| Notes
from CD Sleeve: In the dark evening of 30-Dec-63, blues legend Sonny Boy
Williamson was headlining Newcastle's newest pop attraction, and had signed The Animals to
back him up. A week later, Sonny was dead, ... but The Animals had already begun their
starbound trek. The microphones were there that Monday night, and they graphically
captured the excitement of the event. This recording is purported to be the first ever by
The Animals, pre-dating any that has ever been released. This was the style of a
still-emerging musical force, fueled by its own energy and the adulation from its
audience. (Tom Carlson) |
